Dhar Player Privacy Policy
Effective date: 4 September 2026 Last updated: 6 September 2026
Dhar Player is operated by SN SMART SOLUTIONS LTD, a company registered in the United Kingdom under company number 16574869, with its registered office at 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, United Kingdom, WC2H 9JQ ("SN Smart Solutions", "we", "us" or "our").
This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use the Dhar Player TV application, the Dhar Player website at https://dharplayer.co.uk, and its playlist-pairing portal.
Privacy enquiries and rights requests: contact@dharplayer.co.uk.
1. What Dhar Player is
Dhar Player is an independent media player for playlists and media sources supplied by the user. Dhar Player does not provide, sell, host, curate or distribute channels, playlists, films, series or other audiovisual content.
The TV application does not require an end-user account. A random, resettable Virtual MAC is generated by the application for pairing. It is not the television's hardware MAC address, and Dhar Player does not read or transmit the real hardware MAC address.
2. Information we handle
Depending on how you use the service, we may handle:
- Installation, trial and pairing data: the Virtual MAC, pairing code, app-scoped installation proof where supported, device label, platform type, trial start/end timestamps, connection status and licence status.
- Playlist data: the playlist name, user-supplied playlist URL, authentication information contained in that URL where applicable, selected playlist and synchronisation timestamps.
- EPG and media metadata: channel names, programme information, categories, logos and other metadata supplied by the user's own source and processed to provide the player functions.
- Licence and transaction data: purchaser name and email address, order or licence identifier, selected annual or perpetual plan, payment status, chosen currency and transaction records. A country header supplied by our hosting/CDN or browser-language signal may be used transiently to suggest EUR, GBP or SEK; the customer can override it. We do not need to receive full payment-card details; those are handled by the payment provider shown at checkout.
- Technical and security data: IP address, date and time, request status, basic browser or device information, and limited security logs created by the website, hosting environment or pairing service.
- Preferences stored on the device: interface language, active playlist, playback preferences, favourites, subtitle/audio selection and legal-notice acknowledgement.
- Communications: information you send when requesting support, privacy assistance, deletion, refunds, or reporting copyright or abuse.
The initial release is designed without advertising, cross-app tracking, analytics SDKs or crash-reporting SDKs. If this changes, we will update this policy and the relevant store privacy declarations before the changed version is released.
3. Why we use information
We use information to:
- create and maintain a licence entitlement;
- register and enforce an eligible 15-day trial using trusted server time;
- pair a user-authorised playlist with a Dhar Player installation;
- import, validate, synchronise and display the user's playlist and EPG metadata;
- remember settings and provide playback functions;
- secure the service, prevent abuse and investigate technical incidents;
- process payments, refunds and licence enquiries;
- answer support, privacy, copyright and legal requests; and
- comply with tax, accounting, consumer-protection and other legal obligations.
4. Lawful bases
Where UK data-protection law applies, we rely on:
- contract, when information is necessary to sell or provide the licence and requested service;
- legitimate interests, for proportionate service security, fraud prevention, debugging and support;
- legal obligation, for accounting, tax, valid legal requests and regulatory compliance; and
- consent, where the law requires it, such as for non-essential cookies or optional marketing. The initial release does not use non-essential analytics or advertising cookies.
5. How playlist information is handled
Playlist URLs can contain usernames, passwords or access tokens and are treated as confidential. Production systems must use encrypted transport, restrict employee access, encrypt stored secrets, redact URLs and credentials from logs, and prevent them from appearing in analytics or public pages.
We do not claim ownership of a user's playlist or media. We use playlist information only to provide the requested private pairing and playback service, maintain security, comply with law and enforce the Acceptable Use Policy.
6. Sharing and service providers
We may share only the information necessary with:
- FastComet and its infrastructure providers, for website and service hosting;
- the payment provider selected at checkout—Stripe, PayPal, Mollie, or a separately identified approved provider if enabled—for payment, fraud prevention, refunds and disputes;
- email and support-service providers used to deliver requested communications;
- professional advisers, insurers, auditors or authorities where reasonably necessary; and
- a buyer or successor if our business is reorganised, subject to appropriate safeguards and notice where required.
We do not sell personal information. We do not share playlist credentials for advertising, data-brokerage or unrelated profiling.
Stripe, PayPal and Mollie adapters are disabled unless the operator has configured and enabled them. The checkout identifies the active provider before redirection. The production release record must identify the exact payment, email, security and support providers actually enabled. A provider must not be enabled until its data handling and merchant approval have been reviewed and this policy and the store declarations have been updated where necessary.
7. Retention
We keep information only for as long as necessary:
- Virtual MAC, device, trial and pairing record: while the trial, pairing or licence is active, then deleted or anonymised within 30 days after unlinking, deletion approval or licence closure, unless a limited record is required for security, fraud prevention or law.
- Playlist URLs and credentials: until the playlist is removed, the installation is unlinked, a valid deletion request is completed, or the service is closed. Operational backups expire within 30 days.
- EPG cache and derived media metadata: normally overwritten during synchronisation and removed with the related playlist record or within 30 days.
- Routine security logs: up to 30 days; records connected to a confirmed incident, fraud, dispute or legal claim may be retained longer while necessary.
- Support and privacy correspondence: up to 24 months after closure, unless a longer period is needed for an active dispute or legal obligation.
- Licence, payment, refund and accounting records: for the period required by applicable tax and company-record laws, generally up to six years.
- Copyright and abuse case records: for as long as necessary to investigate, enforce, defend or comply with legal obligations, normally no more than six years after closure.
8. Your choices and rights
The TV application lets you unlink playlists, reset the Virtual MAC and erase Dhar Player's local app data. Resetting the Virtual MAC breaks the previous pairing and creates a new identifier only after the first-launch disclosure is accepted again.
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to processing, receive a portable copy, withdraw consent, or complain to a regulator. To make a request, email contact@dharplayer.co.uk or use https://dharplayer.co.uk/privacy-request.
We may request proportionate information to verify the request. Because Dhar Player has no end-user account, a Virtual MAC, order/licence reference or purchase email may be needed to locate the relevant record.
UK users may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at https://ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint/. This does not limit any other rights.
9. Deletion
Local app data can be deleted from Settings → Privacy & legal → Delete app data. Server-side deletion instructions are available at https://dharplayer.co.uk/delete-data.
Deletion removes the related device, playlist and pairing data unless limited retention is required for tax, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, security or another legal obligation. A minimal trial-eligibility or abuse-prevention record may be retained where necessary and proportionate; deleting or reinstalling the app does not automatically create eligibility for a new trial. Retained information is isolated and not used for ordinary service delivery or advertising.
10. International processing
Dhar Player is offered internationally. Information may therefore be processed outside the user's country. Where required, we use an adequacy decision, approved contractual safeguards or another lawful transfer mechanism. The production data-flow record must document the selected hosting location and the safeguard used by each provider before worldwide distribution is enabled.
11. Children
Dhar Player is a general media utility but is not directed to children. Purchases must be made by an adult or with the involvement and permission of a parent or legal guardian. We do not knowingly collect children's personal information for advertising or profiling. A parent or guardian may contact us to request deletion.
12. Security
We use measures appropriate to the risk, including HTTPS, access controls, secret redaction, encryption of stored playlist credentials, rate limits, dependency maintenance, backups and incident procedures. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we do not make an absolute security guarantee.
13. Third-party content and links
The service may process links chosen by the user. We do not control the privacy or security practices of third-party playlist or media providers. Users should review those providers independently and should not submit a source they are not authorised to use.
14. Changes
We may update this policy to reflect changes in the service, law or providers. The current version will remain available at https://dharplayer.co.uk/privacy, with its effective date. We will provide additional notice where required.
